The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Homicide that occurred in the 2400 block of Second Street just after 9:00p.m. ,Tuesday evening. It was reported that 23yr old Vernard Mays of Macon was in his home on Second Street when an unknown black male knocked on the back door of the house. When Mays answered the door, several shots were fired and his mother called 911. Mays was struck in the groin. He was transported to Navicent Health Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the doctors on staff.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigator’s are still talking to witnesses and investigating the incident.
