The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that occurred inside the 800 block of West Grenada Terrace, just after 11:00 a.m., Monday.
At 11:12 a.m., a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on West Grenada Terrace, on a stolen vehicle discovered by Flock surveillance. During the investigation, occupants were observed exiting the vehicle. Deputies attempted to make contact with the occupants when one subject fired upon deputies. Deputies returned fire and struck the armed subject. Deputies applied a tourniquet to the armed subject. Paramedics responded to the scene and immediately treated the suspect for his wound. He was transported to a medical facility for medical treatment. The subject is listed in stable condition. No one else was injured during this incident.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting incident. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Internal Affairs Office will also conduct an internal investigation. Updates on this incident will be released as soon as they become available.
