On May 11, 2021 at around 3:00 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (S.R.T.) was patrolling the area of Hillcrest Avenue and observed a vehicle without a license plate, near Wilmar Drive.

After conducting a traffic stop, deputies made contact with the driver, 26-year-old Brandon Matthew Tyler. It was found that Tyler did not have insurance or valid registration for the vehicle. When deputies ran Tyler’s information through the Georgia Crime Information Center (G.C.I.C), it revealed that Tyler had three active bench warrants for his arrest. The bench warrants were in connection to a homicide investigation from 2019.

Tyler was originally arrested in June of 2019 and was released on a $110,200.00 bond in January of 2020. On April 21, 2021, a Special Presentment was made to the Grand Jury and Tyler was indicted on the charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm by First Offender. Bench warrants were issued for these charges. Once deputies received the information of Tyler’s warrants, they placed Tyler in custody.

During the traffic stop, deputies discovered approximately one pound of Marijuana and a loaded firearm in Tyler’s possession. Tyler was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for the three bench warrants and the charges of Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Felonies, and Possession of a Firearm by First Offender. He also had a Probation Violation-Felony. Tyler does not have a bond.
