Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit and Crimes Against Children assisted the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, with the apprehension and arrest of 32 year old Steven Keith Spires of Locust Grove. Investigators received information from the FBI that Spires and the 13 year old missing juvenile, Brooklyn Smith were in the Macon area. Smith had been missing from Alpharetta Georgia since January 14, 2017. There was an active Amber Alert for the teen.
Spires and Smith were located at the Liberty Inn, located at 4295 Pio Nono Avenue. Spires was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Office. Smith was ok and was turned over to the FBI. Spires was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center where he is being held for the Alpharetta Police Department.
