Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a person shot just before 6:00 p.m. at 2487 Rocky Creek Road, Melody Magic Mart. When deputies arrived at the store, they found 45 year old Richard Smith Shot in what was thought to be just his right leg, but he was shot in both legs.
It was reported that Smith was outside the store in the parking lot near the gas pumps when a dark colored Dodge Charger drove into the parking lot. The suspect was in the Charger. Smith went over to the vehicle and engaged in a conversation with the suspect who came up in the vehicle. There was a verbal altercation and the suspect, identified as 23 year old Zikeil Ruff shot Smith in the legs. Ruff fled the scene in the vehicle after shooting Smith. Smith was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital by ambulance. He is listed in serious but stable condition.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Zikeil Ruff and the Dodge Charger, possibly a late 2000 model. Ruff is described as a black male, 6 feet 2 inches in height and weighing approximately 210 pounds.
