The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has taken warrants out for an 18-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a 14-year-old girl in the Sunday night gang-related driveby shooting.

Gang investigators worked relentlessly on this case and finally got enough information to execute a search warrant today at the home of Terrance Hampton. Evidence found there led to the securing of an arrest warrant for Hampton, 18, of 4011 Shearwater Drive.

A judge signed the warrant minutes ago.

Attached is a picture of Terrance Hampton. If you have information about his whereabouts, call 751-7500 and tell dispatchers where he is. Hampton is strongly urged to contact investigators and make arrangements to be taken into custody.

Hampton is charged with murder in relation to the shooting homicide of Ta’Shuntis Roberts. He is also charged with aggravated assault.

Investigators with the Gang Unit and Violent Crimes Unit have worked around the clock on this case. The investigation has shown that Ta’Shuntis was an innocent victim and that her house was targeted in an act of retaliation for a previous shooting. It is believed that Hampton was holding Ta’Shuntis’s brother and close friends responsible for a pervious act of violence.

Hampton reported his house was shot at on Saturday, December 12. Investigators are looking into this case, as well.

Statement of Sheriff David Davis

“I’m glad the wall of silence was finally broken in this case – and that people finally started talking to investigators about what they knew. I hope this imminent arrest brings some comfort to the Roberts family – so they may celebrate Ta’Shuntis’s much too short life tomorrow.”
