The Bibb County Sheriff’s Property Investigations Division along with the assistance of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit, Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin and the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force, conducted an investigation that has led to the arrest of 6 individuals involved in an identity theft ring.

The investigation began in January of this year. The individuals arrested are accused of stealing mail from mailboxes, burglarizing houses, and stealing other items to obtain people’s identity and using it in a sophisticated way to benefit themselves.  Some of the items stolen were either sold or pawned.  The stolen identities are still mounting up as the investigation continues.

Multiple credit cards that were opened in other peoples’ names were recovered in addition to multiple items that had been purchased using stolen information.  Four of the six suspects had been arrested prior to March 16th, 2016, when the remaining two, Aaron Jones- Massey and Michael Jones, were captured by members of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division late Wednesday afternoon, March 16, 2016.

Michael Sean Jones – 45 YOA – Charged with Burglary, Forgery and Violation of Probation. He has a bond amount of $15,100.00.  Arrested March 16, 2016.

Aaron Michael Jones-Massey – 21YOA – Charged with Burglary, Aggravated Battery, Forgery, False Imprisonment, Stalking, Harassing Phone Calls and Violation of Probation. He has a bond amount of $12,700.00. Arrested  March 16, 2016.

Lewis Earl Corder – 33YOA – Charged with Identity Fraud, Financial Transaction Card Fraud and Terroristic Threats. He has a bond amount of $87,685.00. Arrested January 21, 2016.

Jennifer Ann Grata – 43YOA – Charged with Burglary, Forgery, Theft By Taking, Identity Fraud and Financial Transaction Card Fraud. She has a bond amount of $94,340.00. Arrested February 2, 2016.

James Thomas Watkins – 38YOA – Charged with Financial Transaction Card Fraud and Parole Violation. He has a bond amount of $2,400.00. Arrested February 8, 2016.

Melissa Danyell Spires – 31YOA – Charged with Theft By Conversion. She also has a hold for Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. She has a bond amount of $3,500.00. Arrested February 4, 2016.

All of the arrested remain in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
