A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Ward Street and Amos Street, just before 11:00 p.m. Thursday.
It was reported that the driver of the vehicle refused to stop for deputies and lead deputies on a brief vehicle pursuit. It was reported that during the pursuit gunfire was exchanged, and the driver was struck. The male driver was transported to Atrium Navicent Health to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The deputy was not injured during this incident.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting incident. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Internal Affairs Office will conduct an internal investigation. Further information will be released when it becomes available.
