Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call of a stolen vehicle at the Macon Convenience Store, located at 4930 Bloomfield Road at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night.  The car was reported stolen after the driver of the vehicle had left the keys in the vehicle and the doors unlocked while inside the convenience store.

About 20 minutes later another deputy spotted the stolen vehicle, a 1997 Honda Accord, in the 3700 block of Pio Nono Avenue. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the stolen Honda. The driver refused to stop and attempted to elude the deputy. The deputy chased the vehicle to Newburg Avenue where the Honda struck a fence at the Buelahland Bible Church, located at 1010 Newburg Avenue. The driver and passenger jumped out of the Honda and escaped on foot.

Both suspects are black males and looked to be late teens to early 20’s in age. One suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, dark colored pants and shoes. The second suspect was wearing shorts cut below the knees and no shirt.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators are checking with the store for video footage of the suspects taking the vehicle.  Anyone with information in reference to this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500, or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
