Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a person shot just after 10:30p.m. Tuesday night at 3309 Holley Road. When deputies arrived at the address they found 33 year old Ray Sams, of Lizella shot once in the leg.

It was reported by another male, at the scene that a white female dropped off Sams and another female at the store at this location. Sams appeared to have been arguing with the female that had dropped him off at the store. A black, newer model Ford Taurus pulled into the parking lot while Sams and the male were talking outside. The driver, an unknown male, jumped out of the Taurus and began arguing with Sams over something that occurred the previous night. The driver then told Sams and the male with Sams to empty their pockets. Sams was shot in the leg by the driver of the Taurus. The male that was talking with Sams did empty his pockets as ordered giving the driver $300.00 from his wallet.

The driver of the Taurus and another unidentified male passenger, who was also reported to be armed, got back into the Taurus to leave. As they started to leave, the female that had been dropped off with Sams got into the Taurus also and fled the scene with the suspects.  Sams was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
