Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a possible commercial burglary in progress at Cali’s Smoke Shop, located at 3199 Mercer University Drive, this morning just after 12:00 midnight. When deputies arrived at the business, a black male subject was coming out of the front door of the business. As deputies attempted to detain the suspect, he ran in attempt to get away from the deputies. The suspect, later identified as 18 year old Malik Jenkins, was caught a short distance from the business.

Deputies were able to view video footage from the store’s surveillance video system that clearly showed Jenkins force his way into the closed business, looking through the cash register and take items from the store, which he dropped as he was running from deputies. Jenkins was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex where he was booked on the charges of burglary, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, terroristic threats and theft by receiving stolen property. He has a bond set at $25,350.00.
