Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Homewood Suites, located at 1514 Bass Road on Sunday, February 9, 2020, just after 2:30 a.m. in reference to a theft of a motor vehicle.
It was reported to deputies that a witness observed two individuals enter a vehicle, causing the alarm to sound and then drove away with it. The witness also stated the stolen vehicle was being followed by individuals in a red SUV.
A description of both vehicles was given out to all patrol units. Deputies in the area located the two vehicles that pulled into the parking lot of Flash Foods, located at 1608 Bass Road. When deputies attempted to make contact with the individuals in the stolen 2003 Infiniti FX35, the suspects attempted to flee on foot. Deputies were able to take three of the five suspects into custody after a brief foot chase.
The remaining suspects attempted to flee in a Red 2015 Ford Escape behind the Flash Foods. The two suspects abandoned the vehicle and then attempted to flee on foot. The two were also apprehended after a brief foot chase.
The suspects were identified as 20-year-old Kalongki Andretti Chapman of Albany, 19-year-old Deuntra Ayers of Albany and 17-year-old Demarcious Linte Johnson of Albany. There were also two juveniles taken into custody, a 15-year-old female and a 15-year-old male, both from Albany.
During the foot chase, 20-year-old Kalongki Chapman of Albany, was found to be in possession of a Taurus handgun. After a search of the vehicles it was discovered that a total of three handguns were recovered. The guns recovered were a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun, FM HI-Power 9mm handgun and Taurus .380 caliber handgun. The FM Hi-Power was found to have been stolen out of Austin, Texas.
The stolen Infiniti was recovered and the Ford Escape was found to have been reported stolen out of Albany, Ga. Stolen property recovered from inside the vehicles includes a vest, computer laptops, jewelry, cell phones, wallets, knifes and currency.
Chapman, Ayers and Johnson were transported to the Property Investigation Office to be interviewed. After their interview they were transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
Kalongki Andretti Chapman was charged with Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Theft by taking and theft by receiving stolen property. His bond is set at $13,800.00
Deuntra Ayers was Charged with Theft By taking and theft by receiving stolen property. His bond is set at $8,100.00
Demarcious Linte Johnson was charged with Theft by receiving stolen property and theft by taking. His bond is set at $8,100.00
The female juvenile was transported to the Macon RYDC. The male juvenile was transported to the Cadwell RYDC in Cadwell Ga.
