On April 11, 2022, at around 3:00 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of Pio Nono Avenue, when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for an insurance violation.

It was reported that during the incident, deputies attempted to make a traffic stop with the driver of a Honda Civic on Pio Nono Avenue. The driver refused to stop after deputies activated police blue lights and sirens. The vehicle finally stopped at the 3400 block of Travis Boulevard.

During the traffic stop, deputies identified the driver as 19-year-old Victor Lashon Mays Jr. It was reported that Mays was in possession of a Glock 19 pistol, a Diamondback DB15 rifle, 1.5 ounces of marijuana, drug packages materials, a scale, and magazines for the weapons. Mays was taken into custody, without incident.

Mays was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and is being held for the following charges: (1) count of Purchase, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution, or Sale of Marijuana, (1) count of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of or Attempt to Commit a Certain Felonies, (1) count of Attempting to Elude a Police Officer for a Felony Offence, and a Traffic Offense. Mays is also being held for an unrelated warrant out of Fulton County. Mays currently does not have a bond.
