A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle, just after 9:41pm Saturday night, on Highway 80 and North Lizella Road. When the deputy attempted to make the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop and led the deputy on a chase. During the pursuit the suspect threw a handgun out the window of the vehicle. After a brief chase the suspect stopped his vehicle on Williamson Drive in Lizella.  He was identified as 37 year old Aasim Ali McCoy of Macon. After being questioned by investigators, McCoy was charged with 3 counts of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of schedule II and IV drugs, possession of marijuana, fleeing and obstruction. McCoy was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.  The handgun was recovered in this incident.
