A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy was conducting a business check at the Dollar General located at 1444 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard just before midnight Monday night. Deputy Costello noticed one of the corner windows had been shattered. After another deputy arrived on scene, both deputies checked around the building and found a white male who appeared to be asleep on the ground. Deputies got the male up and detained him for questioning. Deputies also requested that the 911 Dispatch Operator notify an employee for the business to come out to the Dollar General.
An employee arrived at the store and deputies went inside to check the business further. After the building was cleared, the employee came in to assist with getting the surveillance video up for viewing. Deputies saw a male suspect in the video pacing around the store earlier and also standing at the window as it was broken. This was the same male that was found outside the business when deputies first arrived.
The male suspect, later identified as 25 year old Rusty Logue, was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division to be interviewed. During the interview it was discovered that Logue broke the window out of the business to enter and take food. Logue was charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary and Possession of Tools for a Crime.
