A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling the area of Mercer University Drive near Interstate Drive just before 10:00PM Saturday night, November 29, 2015, when he saw a vehicle and driver fitting the description of a suspect involved in some recent thefts of merchandise from some businesses in Bibb County. The vehicle was a white, 4-door Toyota Avalon, driven by a white male.

The deputy called the information in over the radio and waited for other deputies before making a traffic stop on the vehicle. A traffic stop was made on the Toyota as it exited the Zebulon Road exit at I-475 North. The deputy made contact with the driver, who he recognized as being the suspect he was looking for in one of the theft incidents. The white male identified himself as Lee Alfred. As the deputy was checking the information that the suspect gave him, the suspect sped off. Deputies chased the suspect and captured him a short time later after the vehicle turned onto Bane Street where the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to run away.

The suspect’s correct name is William Alfred Lee Jr., 41 years old, from Macon. Lee is charged with 3 counts of theft by shoplifting, fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer and a probation violation. Other charges are pending the outcome of the investigation on Lee. He was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. He has a bond of $2,600.00.
