Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call at around 12:00 noon today, about white male purchasing merchandise with counterfeit money at Smiley’s Flea Market, located at 6717 Hawkinsville Road. It was reported that the male, later identified as 56 year old Billy Wayne Brown of Bonaire, purchased an item at a booth with counterfeit money. The victim pointed out Brown to deputies when they arrived at the flea market as he was sitting inside a blue Geo Metro vehicle.

 

There was also a passenger in the vehicle with Brown, who was identified by workers at the flea market as a white male that had also purchased some items with counterfeit money at the flea market. This subject was identified as 61 year old David Wayne Powers of Byron. Brown and Powers were placed under arrest and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Property Investigations Office to be interviewed by investigators. Both were charged with 10 counts of Forgery and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex. They each have a bond set at $29,500.00.
