Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a call of a residential burglary in progress just after 10:30PM Monday night, in the 3400 block of Austin Place. After arriving at the residence, deputies chased two suspects who appeared to be hiding in the backyard of the residence next door to the one that was broken into. One of the suspects was immediately apprehended. As deputies were at the victim’s residence getting information, a call from the 911 dispatcher reported the second suspect being spotted by a resident in the 3400 block of Hillcrest Avenue. Deputies went to that area and apprehended the second suspect as he had made it over to Morgan Drive and was hiding in a backyard in the 3600 block of Morgan Drive.

 

After deputies had arrived at the location of the first burglary, they also learned of two other residential burglaries in the same area and four entering autos in the 3500 block of Morgan Drive. The suspects identified as 19 year old Mecarieo Peek, from Macon and a 16 year old black male, also from Macon, were taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Property Investigations Office for questioning. Peek and the juvenile were charged with four counts of entering auto and 3 counts of burglary. Peek was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and the 16 year old juvenile was transported to the Regional Youth Development Center in Macon.
