Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the whereabouts of 17-year-old Travis Demonte Gilbert Jr., in connection to a homicide investigation that occurred at the Majestic Gardens Apartments. There is currently an active warrant for Gilbert’s arrest for the charge of Felony Murder.

Arrest Made In Homicide Investigation
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators learned through information and leads that 14-year-old , Shamar Smith, of Macon was involved in the homicide of 18-year-old Marquavious Deshaun Wright. The incident occurred June 16, 2021, at the Majestic Gardens Apartments, located at 2560 Rocky Creek Road.
Smith was picked up this afternoon in the Bowden Homes Complex. He was brought to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division to be interviewed. Smith was later charged with felony murder and is charged as an adult in this incident. He was transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center.

Homicide Investigation at Majestic Gardens Apartments
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Homicide incident that was reported to have occurred at Majestic Gardens Apartments at around 4:41 p.m.
It was reported that 18-year-old Marquavious Deshaun Wright and 17-year-old Deonte Hunt were wounded by gunfire. Just after the shooting, Hunt was able to make a call for help. Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene to treat his injuries that were non-life threatening. Hunt was transported to Atrium Health Navicent by ambulance.
Wright was fatally wounded and pronounced deceased on the scene by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office. He was found by deputies inside an apartment. The next of kin has been notified.
Investigators are speaking to a person of interest at this time.
This investigation is still in its early stages. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
