The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated assault that took place on Mercer University Drive, near its intersection with Stevens Drive. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 3:07 p.m.
According to witnesses, there were two different vehicles in the turning lane, to make the left turn onto Stevens Drive. One of the vehicles was a Honda CRV and the other was an older model Honda Accord. Both vehicles were white in color. The Honda CRV pulled onto Stevens Drive and a black male got out of the vehicle. He exchanged gunfire with a black male that was driving the older model Honda Accord. The driver of a Volkswagen Tiguan was struck by gunfire as she passed the intersection as this incident was taking place.
After the incident occurred, the driver of the Honda Accord made a U-turn and headed east on Mercer University Drive. The Honda CRV turned around and pulled back onto Mercer University Drive and made a right turn, also headed east on Mercer University Drive.
The female victim pulled into the Summer Park apartments and called 911. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is currently listed to be in stable condition.
