Bibb County Sheriff’s investigators arrested two suspects in connection with both of the Gulf Mart and Market Place #5, convenient store homicides.  The investigation led to the arrest of 17 year old Jeremy Jerome Kendrick Jr. and 16 year old Arie Calloway, both from Macon.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit, Gang Unit, and also members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force served a search warrant at 1323 Lakeview Drive, just after 12:00a.m., Friday morning. Investigators located Calloway and Kendrick at this address and both were taken into custody, without incident.

Both Kendrick and Calloway will be charged with (2cts) of Murder and (2cts) of Armed Robbery.  Kendrick is being held, without bond, at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Calloway was transported to the Macon Regional Detention Center. Calloway will go before the Bibb County Superior Court, Friday morning. No bond has been set for Calloway at this time.

Bibb County Sheriff David Davis said, “Our community can be proud of the relentless determination of the Bibb Sheriff’s investigators and the members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in their efforts to identify suspects in the senseless deaths of these store clerks. These arrests make a total of five teenagers charged with murder in August. This is a horrible situation. I have four words…It starts at home…I beg parents to seek help to save their kids before it’s too late.”

Update: Gulf Mart Shooting Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that took place at the Gulf Mart, located at 2893 Napier Avenue. It was reported that a clerk was opening the Gulf Mart store at around 8:00a.m. Tuesday morning. Two masked gunmen entered the store and a short time later, the clerk was shot. The two masked gunmen fled the store in an unknown direction. The clerk was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Sheriff’s Investigators are attempting to determine what actually took place inside of the store. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

The first suspect is described as possibly a black male. He was wearing a gray colored hoodie, black pants, black shoes, and he was wearing a black mask over his face. The suspect had on white gloves and had a black handgun.

The second suspect was described as a black male. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt over a white colored t-shirt. He had on black colored “Adidas” wind breaker type pants, with stripes running down the sides of the pants. This suspect was also wearing high top blue and white tennis shoes. He was also wearing white gloves and was armed with a black handgun.

It was reported by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley that the store clerk, 36 year Alpeshkumar Prajapati, passed at the emergency center at around 9:00a.m., Tuesday morning. The next of kin has been notified.

 Commercial Armed Robbery of Market Place 5 Store

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery that took place just before 11:00pm Tuesday night at the Market Place #5 Store, located at 2006 Vineville Avenue.  It was reported that a black male suspect approached the clerk as he was leaving the store. During the incident the suspect fired his gun at the clerk Mr. Waqar Ali, of Macon, striking him in the chest. The suspect fled on foot. Ali was transported to the Navicent Health Medical Center and is listed in critical but stable condition at this time. Navicent Health Staff pronounced Waqar Ali deceased at 03:11am due to the injuries he sustained during the robbery.

The suspect was described as wearing dark clothes with his face covered, no other description is available.
