The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit, with the assistance of the SRT Unit and Crime Analyst Unit, makes arrests in connection with an Entering Automobiles Investigation.

On August 23, 2023, just before 7:00 p.m., investigators pursued a lead in reference to a suspicious vehicle observed during a recent string of thefts from automobiles. The incident occurred at Bowman Station Apartments located at 5235 Bowman Road. The suspicious vehicle was sited inside Pendleton Homes located at 3401 Houston Avenue. Deputies responded to the area, discovering an occupant inside of the vehicle. The occupant was detained without incident. A second person of interest who was also observed inside the vehicle was detained nearby.

During the investigation, two firearms, a drum magazine, marijuana, and evidence linked to the entering automobiles investigation were recovered. Of the firearms recovered, one was reported stolen, the other was altered.

The suspects were identified as twenty-three-year-old Jaurice Markel Haywood and twenty-five-year-old Ja’ie Sylvester Ki’ante Hawkins of Macon. Contact was made with the vehicle owner, twenty-two-year-old Ayana Chanee Searcy of Macon, who was wanted in Houston County. Ayana Searcy was detained. All suspects were transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters for further investigation. Afterwards they were all transported to the Bibb County Sheriff Law Enforcement Center.

Jaurice Markel Haywood is charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Unlawful Possession of Firearms. Ja’ie Sylvester Ki’ante Hawkins is charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearms, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and twenty counts of Entering Automobile. Ayana Chanee Searcy’s warrant was served. All are currently being held without bond. Additional charges could be pending.
