While on patrol, Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy Scarborough stopped to make a business check at the Midway Package Store located at 7279 Hawkinsville Road just after 3:30AM. As he was walking outside, around the back of the store, he heard a noise near a fence at the business.  He shined his flashlight in the area of the noise and saw three black males attempting to get through the gate of the fence. All three subjects ran from the business.

Deputy Scarborough radioed for assistance and began searching the area for the subjects. Two of the suspects were apprehended a short time later near the package store. They were identified as 18 year old, Malik Deshun Towns of Macon and 25 year old Santonio Dewayne Mattox Jr. of Macon. Both suspects were taken to the Bibb Sheriff’s Property Investigations Office to be questioned. Towns and Mattox were charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary.  They were transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex. No bond has been set for either Towns or Mattox. No further information is available at this time on the third suspect or the incident.
