The United States Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 26 year old Tavoris McKinney of Macon for the shooting and robbery of 38 year old Lonnie Hicks of Milledgeville. The shooting occurred at 1623 Sherrill Drive on December 30, 2014. McKinney was arrested without incident at a location in the 3900 block of St. Charles Street at around 2:20 p.m. today without incident.
It was reported that Hicks went to 1623 Sherrill Drive along with two other people in reference to a drug transaction. During the transaction McKinney pulled out a gun and robbed Hicks of marijuana that he had in his possession. Hicks, McKinney and a third person got into a struggle. During the struggle the gun was fired. As Hicks exited the front door he was shot in the back by McKinney. Warrants were taken out for McKinney’s arrest for aggravated assault and armed robbery. Hicks has been released from the Navicent Center.
McKinney was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex and booked on the charges. No bond has been set.
