On Monday afternoon at around 05:00 p.m. the US Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force and Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators located Rashad Marquez Mays at a residence in Lizella, in relation to the homicide of 38yr old Traveres Lester. They were able to take Mays into custody without incident. Mays was transported to the Investigations Division and interviewed before being taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and booked on the charge of murder. Mays is being held without bond at this time.

Public’s Assistance Requested in Locating Murder Suspect
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 26yr old Rashad Marquez Mays who is wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of 38yr old Tarveres Lester, at the Econolodge Sunday evening. A photograph of Mays is attached. The next of kin of the victim has been notified.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Homicide in North Macon
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred at 1990 Riverside Dr., Econolodge, just before 3:30p.m. Sunday evening. Deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival they found a black male lying in the driveway of the Econolodge with a gunshot to the back. The victim 38yr old Tarvees Lester was pronounced deceased on scene. The next of kin has been notified. The suspect had already fled the scene before Deputies arrived. No one else was injured during the incident. There is no suspect information at this time.
