Bibb County Patrol Deputies with the assistance of the public were able to identify the driver that fled the scene after striking 7yr old Zmya Whitus on November 3,2018. Deputies arrested 66yr old Frances Lemonna Jones, of Macon. Jones was taken into custody at her residence today just before 3:30pm without incident. Jones was driving her gold in color Honda Accord at the time of the incident.
Zmya Whitus has been released from the Hospital and is back home with her family, still recovering from her injuries.
Jones was charged with hit and run resulting in serious injury and serious injury by vehicle. She is being held at the Bibb County Jail on a bond of $2,950.00 on the Hit and Run charge, there is no bond on the Serious Injury by Vehicle charge.

Public Assistance in Identifying “Hit and Run” Suspect
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in helping identify the driver involved in a “hit and run” accident, involving a pedestrian that occurred on November 3, 2018. The vehicle involved appears to be a four-door, midsize vehicle. The vehicle is possibly gold or tan in color. The driver of the vehicle was last seen traveling south on Saint Charles Place at around 4:44p.m.

It was reported that Zmya Whitus, age 7, was at the edge of her driveway when she was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle was traveling south on Saint Charles Place and continued in the same direction after the accident occurred.
Whitus was transported to the hospital and is listed to be in stable condition. No one else was injured during this incident.
