Just after 07:30 a.m. a Macon woman was arrested regarding the fatal pedestrian collision on Riverside Drive that occurred on September 7, 2023.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigators were able to determine that 28-year-old Erica Latee Buckner was driving the vehicle that struck 67-year-old Freddie Evans, who was pronounced deceased.

Buckner surrendered to deputies and was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Hit and Run Resulting in Serious Injury or Death, Hit and Run Duty to Stop at or Return to Scene of Accident, Homicide by Vehicle and Probation Violation. She is being held without bond currently.

Fatal Pedestrian Traffic Collision on Riverside Drive

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian traffic collision that occurred just before 8:30 p.m., in the 1000 block of Riverside Drive.

It was reported that a 67-year-old male was standing in the center turn lane in the 1000 block of Riverside Drive when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV. The SUV did not stop but continued northbound on Riverside Drive. The SUV is possibly a Chevy Tahoe with front-end damage. The male pedestrian was transported to Atrium Health where he was pronounced deceased by staff. The next of kin has not been notified currently.

The above information is preliminary and could change as the investigation progresses.
