Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators issued a warrant for murder today on 62 year old Alton Williams, the brother of Harry Lee Williams who was fatally shot on February 23, 2016. During the course of the investigation, information led investigators to Alton Williams being a suspect in his brother’s murder.

At around 6:00PM today, Alton Williams was picked up by the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force and Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators at his residence on Joseph Waller Drive. Williams was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division to be questioned. He was later transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center where he was booked on the murder charge. Williams has no bond at this time.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Shooting In East Bibb

Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a person shot at around 3:30PM Tuesday at 3248 John Waller Drive. It was reported that a call came in to the Macon Bibb 911 Dispatch of a person down and unresponsive. Macon-Bibb Fire Department EMS arrived at the residence and began checking the victim, while giving medical attention to the victim they found what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was then notified.

The victim is identified as 57 year old Harry Lee Williams who lives at the address. Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators are conducting interviews and following up on information related to the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
