Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested 39-year-old Willie James Haugabrook III, in connection with the death investigation of 36-year-old Gregory William Thomas. The original incident occurred on April 14, 2024, in the 1900 block of Cedar Avenue.
Investigators identified Haugabrook, as the suspect involved in connection with Thomas’ death and had warrants issued for his arrest. Haugabrook was located inside a home in the 4200 block of Pinedale Drive, by Bibb County Sheriff’s Gang Unit Investigators and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force at around 10:18 a.m.
Haugabrook is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond, for the charges of murder and unrelated charges of hit and run and theft by taking-motor vehicle.

Death Investigation on Cedar Ave
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred in the 1900 block of Cedar Avenue, just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Deputies responded to a duplex on Cedar Avenue in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival deputies found a 36-year-old male later identified as Gregory William Thomas, suffering from gunshot wounds. It was reported that Thomas was attending a gathering at this location. He was sitting on the front porch of the location and shortly after gunshots were heard. Thomas was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The next of kin has been notified.
