Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies make an arrest in connection with a Theft by Taking Auto investigation. The incident occurred at the United States Postal Service located at 1376 Hardeman Avenue.

On January 12, 2024, at 5:34 a.m., deputies responded to the scene to investigate a vehicle reported stolen. It was reported to deputies that a 2022 Hino 258, utilized for postal services, was taken from the parking lot. Deputies were able to track and locate the vehicle within the 5500 block of Thomaston Road. While canvasing the area, deputies located a person of interest linked to the stolen vehicle who was walking away on foot. The person of interest was apprehended. The key to the stolen vehicle was in his possession. The vehicle was returned.

The suspect was identified as thirty-eight-year-old Brian Latrell Colbert of Macon. Colbert was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center. He is charged with Felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, two counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, Possession of Schedule I Schedule II Narcotic, Driving while License Suspended, and Probation Violation. He does not have a bond.
