Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Gang, and SRT Units made an arrest in connection with a Theft by Taking Auto investigation. The incident occurred Friday afternoon.

On May 17, 2024, just before 12:30 p.m., deputies spotted a vehicle reported stolen traveling west on Jeffersonville Road. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit. While fleeing north on Riverside Drive, the driver left the roadway and collided with the exterior steps of a residence within the 100 block of Madison Street. The suspect then exited his vehicle and fled on foot towards a cemetery nearby where deputies were able to apprehend the suspect. No one was injured as a result of the collision. The stolen Honda Pilot has been recovered.

The driver was identified as 17-year-old Andrew Howard of Macon. Howard was transported to Investigations Headquarters for further investigation. Andrew Howard was then transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Andrew Howard faces charges of two counts of Felony Theft by Taking Auto, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony, Felony Fleeing and Eluding, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana. He currently does not have a bond.
