On February 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., Investigators made an arrest of a person of interest in connection to the death of Ernestine Frye on February 14, 2024. The person of interest was identified as forty-three-year-old April Powell of Macon. Powell was transported from Investigation Headquarters to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
April Powell faces a charge of Murder and currently does not have a bond.

Death Investigation on Montpelier Avenue
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred on Montpelier Avenue, just after 6:00 p.m., Wednesday.
On February 14, 2024, at 6:10 p.m., Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence within the 2300 block of Montpelier Avenue after a call came into the E-911 Emergency Center reporting a person shot. Deputies arrived on the scene and made contact with a forty-nine-year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a medical facility for treatment. According to Coroner Leon Jones, Ernestine Frye was pronounced deceased at Atrium Health Navicent. The next of kin has been notified. No one else was injured during the incident.
Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting.
