On April 7, 2024, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to Sunoco located at 4691 Log Cabin Drive in reference to a person reported shot. The call came into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center at 8:03 a.m.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered 64-year-old Robert Pleasant injured from a gunshot wound. It was reported that the shooting was a result of an altercation that occurred inside the store. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Pleasant to Atrium Health Navicent for medical treatment. According to medical staff, Pleasant was reported to be in stable condition. No one else was harmed during this incident.
On April 7, 2024, at 8:18 a.m., deputies took a person of interest in connection with the shooting in custody. The person of interest was identified as 25-year-old Edwardo Eugene Bigelow Jr. of Macon. Bigelow was transported to Investigations Headquarters for further investigation. Edwardo Bigelow was then transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center where he was charged with Aggravated Assault. His bond was denied.
According to medical staff, on April 15, 2024, Robert Pleasant succumbed to his injuries. According to Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone, the next of kin has been notified.
Edwardo Eugene Bigelow Jr. who is still in custody, now faces a charge of Murder in connection with the death of Robert Pleasant on April 7, 2024. He does not have a bond.
