Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a vacant house Tuesday afternoon in the 1000 block of North Pine Knolls Drive at around 3:25PM after a call came in to the Macon-Bibb 911 Center in reference to a report of someone possibly living in the house. The call was made by the individual that had just purchased the house. It was reported that the owner opened the door to the home and found a deceased dog just inside the doorway. He also saw kennels inside the house. 

 

Deputies went inside the home and found more deceased dogs and cats.  Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare Officers were also called to the location. Through information received during the investigation it was discovered that a Catherine Lynn Smith, 50 years old, of Macon had lived in the home previously.  

 

Smith was located and arrested by Bibb Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators later this evening with information received from Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare Officers. She was interviewed by investigators and charged with 13 counts of cruelty to animals. Smith was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex. Her bond is set at $74,100.00.
