The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare, and Macon Bibb County Fire Department recovered approximately 50 animals from a residence in north Macon after a concerned neighbor called and reported that the owners were in jail. The neighbor was concerned that there was no one to care for the animals and attempted to feed the animals for a few days in the owner’s absence.

Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to 924 Glenbrook Road at around 1:10p.m. Thursday afternoon. Deputies found over 50 animals inside of the residence, some were found in crates, the others were running loose inside of the house. The house was reported to have been sold by the courts, but the tenants never left. The tenants, 54 year old Stephen Darrell Jones and 47 year old Lisa Ann Murray were arrested two days prior for Criminal Trespass charges for living in another vacant house in the same neighborhood.

Out of the 50 animals that were recovered, four were found dead inside of the house, (1) cat, (1) bird, (1) hamster, and (1) rabbit.

Warrants will be taken out on Jones and Murray for (4cts.) each of felony Animal Cruelty charges. Additional charges are pending further investigation.
