Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the 700 block of Glenn Ave at around 5:20am Thursday morning in reference to a report of a person shot. Deputies met with a female that made the call. It was reported that the victim, 39 year old Keith Wimberly, of Macon ran to this address in search of help after being shot.
Bibb Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with Wimberly who was found sitting in a chair on the porch of the address. It was reported that the incident occurred at the T FOOD Mart located at 1208 Jeffersonville Rd. Wimberly stated that he noticed a male and female in an altercation and when he intervened the man fired two shots at him from a handgun. Wimberly was shot once in the right leg.
Wimberly was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The wound is non-life threatening and he is listed in stable condition. Investigators are currently following up on information and possible leads to identify a suspect in the shooting. More information will be released when it becomes available.
