The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred around 10:41p.m. Saturday night. It was reported that 55- year-old William Ford of Macon and a female friend were in a vehicle that was parked in front of a residence located in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue. A black male that was walking down the street walked up to the vehicle and asked for a cigarette. After Ford and his friend explained that they did not smoke, the male walked away. The male came back to the vehicle and exchanged words with Ford. The male brandished a handgun and shot Ford in the neck area.
Paramedics were called to the scene and transported Ford to the Navicent Health where he is listed to be in critical condition. No one else was injured during this incident.
The suspect was described as a black male with a medium complexion, he had a beard and he also has plats in his hair. He was tall and has a stocky build. No further description at this time.
