The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated assault that took place just before 10:00a.m. Monday morning. It was reported that 22 year old Keith Beddingfield was exiting the Budget Insurance Company, located at 2357 Pionono Avenue, when he was approached by a black male suspect.  The suspect approached Beddingfield and words were exchanged. Beddingfield was shot as he was attempting to exit the parking lot of the business. The suspect ran up Pionono Avenue and then turned left and ran down Harris Street.  Investigators are still looking into the events that took place when the shooting occurred.

Beddingfield attempted to drive himself to the hospital and was involved in a traffic accident with injuries at the intersection of Second Street at Oglethorpe Street. A couple that was traveling west on Oglethorpe went through the green light in a tan/gray Nissan Pathfinder when Bedding field’s silver Chevrolet Impala collided with him. Witnesses stated that Beddingfield went through the red traffic light and hit the Nissan Pathfinder. The Nissan spun around and hit a telephone pole. The Chevrolet spun into the south bound lane of Second Street.  All three were transported to a local hospital.  The couple traveling in the Nissan Pathfinder is listed to be in stable condition.  Beddingfield is listed to be in critical, but stable condition as medical personnel are treating him for the injuries that he received from the shooting incident and traffic accident.

The suspect involved in the shooting incident is described as a heavy set black male.  He was wearing a green hooded coat and possibly a light blue stocking cap. * See the attached pictures….
