Accident with Injuries I75 South at Mercer
Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies were checking the area of Pansy Avenue at Montpelier Avenue for subjects driving recklessly on motorcycles. Deputies spotted a 2003 Suzuki GSX600R, white in color, speeding up the road and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver, later identified as 33yr old Christopher Haynes of Warner Robins, did not stop and speed off down Napier Avenue to Pio Nono Avenue. Haynes then turned onto Vineville Avenue, headed towards I75. He turned onto the I75 south entrance ramp. As he traveled south on I75, Haynes lost control of his motorcycle and went into the grass between the interstate and the off ramp to Mercer University Drive.
Both Haynes and his passenger, 21yr old Asia Weston, were taken to the Navicent Health Hospital for the injuries that he received due to the accident. They are listed in stable condition at this time.
Haynes is being charged with speeding, reckless driving and fleeing eluding a peace officer.
