Arrest Made In Infant Death
An arrest was made on Monday, April 4, 2016 in reference to the death of a 4 month old infant that occurred on April 7, 2014. Kawanna Oliver, 25 years old, from Macon, was charged with felony murder and cruelty to children in the 1st degree. Oliver was arrested around 10:00AM Monday morning in West Bibb County without incident. She was picked up by the US Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force and Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Bond has not been set.
On April 7, 2014 Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of Kawanna’s infant daughter being unresponsive at 847 Newburg Avenue. It was reported that the mother, Kawanna Oliver checked on the infant around 8:30AM that morning and the baby was sleeping. She checked on the infant again around 10:00AM and that’s when the baby was reported to be not breathing. The infant was pronounced dead.
