Inmate Found Unresponsive In Bibb County Jail Cell

This morning at around 11:20AM an inmate being housed in the Bibb County Jail was found by Bibb Sheriff’s Correction Deputies as they were preparing to serve inmates lunch. Christopher Derek Hasty was found hanging by a sheet in his cell in which he was alone.

Deputies had made previous rounds this morning checking on inmates in the cell block and Hasty was fine. When Hasty was discovered hanging in his cell, deputies immediately got Hasty down and began performing CPR while other deputies called 911 for Emergency Medical Services.  He was transported to the Navicent Health where he is listed in critical condition.

Hasty was being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on a violation of probation charge. Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators are looking into the incident. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs is also conducting an investigation which is standard procedure.
