The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Rice Mill Road near Walker Road just before 10:00PM Tuesday night. It was reported that the victim, Willie Barr, from Macon was walking on Rice Mill Road approaching Walker Road when an unknown male walked up behind him and told him to “give it up”. Barr told the male he didn’t have anything and he fought briefly with the male suspect, attempting to defend himself.
Barr stated he heard a gunshot and ran away. He realized he had been struck on the neck from the gunshot. Barr went to a residence in the 1200 block of Baker Drive to seek help. An ambulance was called to the address and Barr was transported to the Navicent Health to be treated for his injury. He was listed in stable condition and the wound was not life-threatening.
Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office are following up on information in attempts to identify the suspect. No information is available on the suspect at this time.
