Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call at 2050 Old Clinton Road, Cherry Tree Hills Apartments, just after 4:30a.m. in regards to loud music coming from a vehicle. When Deputies arrived,  a vehicle sped away from the scene. They attempted to catch the vehicle but lost sight of it. Deputies searched the area and located the vehicle on Shurling Drive. They attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop. During the attempt to stop the vehicle , the driver rammed a deputy’s patrol car on Center Street at Williams Street East. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by deputies.  The deputy was not injured that was struck by the suspect.

The suspect was identified as 26yr old Jamal Chris Rowe of Macon. Rowe is being charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, for ramming the deputy’s car, while he was in it, Fleeing and Eluding a Peace Officer, and Theft by Receiving a Stolen Auto. Rowe also had a warrant for his arrest for Larceny.
