Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a call of a commercial burglary in progress just after 12:00 noon Wednesday at 4685 Houston Avenue, the Marathon Convenience Store. The business is closed and the building is currently vacant. While responding to the location, deputies were told that a black male was seen removing items from the building. As deputies pulled into the parking lot of the business, Deputy Sanderson saw a black male walking from the car wash area of the business carrying an object in his hands. He was walking towards a black SUV in the parking lot.

 

The black male suspect saw the deputies and ran from the business in a northbound direction on Pionono Avenue. Deputy Sanderson chased the suspect for a short distance before apprehending him in the 4700 block of Pionono Avenue. The SUV, described as a 2006 to 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, left the scene as deputies were chasing the suspect. The suspect was identified as 30 year old Jarvis Dewitt Bass from Macon.  Bass is charged with burglary, willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer and a probation violation. He was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex after being questioned by investigators. His bond is set at $1,300.00. Investigators are looking for the black Suburban which has been seen in the Houston Avenue area prior to this incident.
