Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to the 500 block of Corbin Terrace on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in reference to a residential burglary that had occurred just before 1:30PM. Deputies met with the victim, Scott Mitchell who stated he had returned home and saw a vehicle backed in his driveway, under the carport. He described the vehicle as a Ford Fusion or Ford Focus with part of the front bumper missing.  A white, middle aged, brown haired female and a white male child were in the vehicle while a white middle aged male wearing a blue t-shirt stood outside the vehicle. When the Mitchell confronted the subjects, the male stated they were looking for the “Johnson’s” residence. The male suspect got into the vehicle and drove off after Mitchell told him they were at the wrong house. Mitchell got the tag number of the vehicle. After the suspects had left, Mitchell found the door to his shop kicked open. Some items had also been taken from the shop.

Deputy Bryant checked the tag that Mitchell had given him and received information back on the vehicle, registered owner of the vehicle and an address. He also checked social media with the female’s name given as the registered owner of the vehicle. He found a photograph to which the victim recognized as being the white female suspect that was in the suspect vehicle. Deputy Bryant coordinated with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office as the suspect vehicle’s registered owner showed an address in Jones County. Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies contacted Deputy Bryant after checking the address and told him that it was reported to them the female he was looking for, presently lived at an address in the 3000 block of Tiffin Court in Macon with her husband.  Deputy Bryant and other deputies went to the address to attempt to make contact with the vehicle and suspects. Deputies did not initially find the suspect vehicle. Deputy Bryant stayed in the area and waited to see if the vehicle would show up at the home on Tiffin Court. A short time later a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle, which was a 2008 Silver Ford Fusion approached an address on Tiffin Court. The vehicle had part of the front bumper missing as described earlier by the victim. Deputy Bryant made contact with the suspects who were identified as 44 year old Denise Crosby Spivey and 50 year old Jeffrey Scott Spivey. Mr. Spivey was still wearing the blue t-shirt. Both suspects were detained and taken into custody. Jeffrey Spivey also had a warrant for burglary on an unrelated incident. The child who is Mrs. Spivey’s son was turned over to the grandmother. Jeffrey Scott Spivey was charged with 2 counts of burglary-second degree and 2 counts of theft by deception. Denise Crosby Spivey is charged with 1 count of burglary-second degree. They were transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex and have since posted bond.
