The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred just before 11:00PM Sunday night. Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to the 100 block of Ten Knolls Drive about a vehicle that was on fire and a person was found in the vehicle. The person was discovered in the driver’s seat of the vehicle by Macon-Bibb Firefighters that responded to the fire. The vehicle appeared to have run up on an elevated area just of the road and became stuck. It was reported that the fire possibly started from the undercarriage of the vehicle resting on debris.
The name of the driver is being withheld until the identity of the person is verified and the next of kin is notified. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said an autopsy will be done. Further information will be released once it becomes available.
