Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an open field located on Hawaiian Village Drive just before 2:00 p.m., in reference to a call of human remains found on the property.

The call came in from a citizen who stated he was walking through the large vacant field when he found the bone. Deputies arrived at the location and confirmed that the remains were that of a human hip bone. The citizen reported that he had picked the bone up and taken it home with him but returned to the field to show the deputies where the bone was located.

Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the incident. The field was searched, and no additional remains were located. The bone will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab to be examined in an attempt to determine the identity of the person. Investigators have advised that this bone is not related to any recent missing persons as it has been determined that the bone has been there for some time.
