The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a male, later identified as 49-year-old Lawrence Elliott Phelps Jr., of Macon. Phelps was found on the side of the road near the intersection of Rice Mill Road and Saint Charles Place. The Macon-Bibb E-911 Center received the call at around 1:15p.m., Sunday.
At this time there are no signs of foul play. According to Coroner Leon Jones, the family has been contacted and the Phelps’ body will be sent to the G.B.I. Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
