The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred just after 4:20 p.m. in the 3000 block of Millerfield Road.

It was reported that a Dodge Wrecker was traveling east on Millerfield Road when it crossed the center line and struck a Ford Econoline Van that was traveling west. The wrecker, driven by a 41-year-old male from Warner Robins, then went off the roadway and struck a tree. The Ford Van, driven by a 42-year-old female from Macon, lost control and rolled over on its side. A 76-year-old John Joseph Mims of Macon was ejected from the van and was pronounced deceased on scene. A second passenger a 49-year-old female of Macon was transport to Atrium Health and is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the wrecker and the van were treated and released on scene. No one else was injured in the collision. The next of kin has been notified.
