The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that took place at Davis Homes, located at 905 Main Street. The incident took place at around 10:30 a.m. on October 12, 2022.
It was reported that investigators were at an apartment that was located on Maynard Street. Investigators were attempting to locate an individual about an investigation. An unknown male was sitting on the porch and moved a handgun from his pocket to his waistband. When investigators spoke to the male, he began to run from the apartment building, headed towards Main Street. The male fired a shot while fleeing. The male then ran behind apartments that were located at Main Street and Leaf Street. Investigators heard a second shot come from behind the apartment building. When Investigators arrived behind the apartment building, they found the male on the ground with a gunshot wound. Investigators immediately rendered aid and contacted Emergency Medical Services. When paramedics arrived, the male was transported to the hospital, and he was listed to be in critical condition.
This incident was captured on video surveillance cameras.
According to Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone, the male was identified as 16-year-old Johntavious Solomon. He was pronounced deceased Friday morning. Solomon will be sent to the G.B.I. Crime Lab so that an autopsy can be performed.
Investigators did not return gunfire and did not use a taser during this incident.
